For these designs, I decided to take a more strategic approach by creating sketches before starting to design. This would help me come up with ideas quickly and also plan where I will want to put the copy and visuals for this article. Once I had a few ideas that I liked, it was time to get designing and exploring new ideas as they came up.
The Process
The final designs are a combination of grunge and collage; perfectly combining images of skateboarding and punk bands to showcase the harmony between the two. The halftone textures and high-contrast images reflect the early roots of both of these communities. Overall the designs are striking and pay homage to the history of these two sub-cultures.
